# STAR: THE MUSICAL
**12 Managers. Zero Talent. One Leadership Breakthrough.**

**[ALL 12 STAND IN A ROW, LOOKING EXHAUSTED]**

**NARRATOR — PERSON 1:**

Once upon a time, at Bluetooth SIG, there were twelve managers.

They had titles.

They had meetings.

They had meetings ABOUT meetings.

But something was missing…

**PERSON 2:**

I have 37 unread emails!

**PERSON 3:**

Nobody does anything right unless I personally approve it!

**PERSON 4:**

I scheduled a meeting to discuss why we have too many meetings!

**PERSON 5:**

I believe in delegation. That’s why I assign work, then do it myself!

**PERSON 6:**

I avoid conflict. So I just say “sounds good” to everything!

**PERSON 7:**

I give excellent feedback. Mostly thumbs-up emojis!

**EVERYONE — THROW HANDS UP:**

WE NEED HELP!

—

## ACT 2 — STAR CHANGES EVERYTHING

**PERSON 8 — STEPS FORWARD DRAMATICALLY:**

Fear not!

For there is a better way!

It’s called…

STAR!

**EVERYONE — STRIKE A STAR POSE:**

STAAAAAR!

**PERSON 9:**

Wait. You mean I should actually LISTEN to my team?

**PERSON 10:**

And COACH people instead of just giving them answers?

**PERSON 11:**

And TRUST people to do their jobs?

**PERSON 12:**

And maybe… we don’t need another meeting?

**[EVERYONE GASPS. ONE PERSON PRETENDS TO FAINT.]**

**NARRATOR — PERSON 1:**

And just like that, twelve managers began to change.

And because this is a musical…

They began to SING!

### VERSE 1 — THE OLD WAY

If your meetings never end, raise your hand!

**(HANDS UP!)**

If your meetings never end, raise your hand!

**(HANDS UP!)**

If your calendar is packed,

And your team’s a bit off track,

If your meetings never end, raise your hand!

**(HANDS UP!)**

### VERSE 2 — WHAT STAR TAUGHT US

If you’re leading, ask a question, don’t just tell!

**(HEY! HEY!)**

If you’re leading, ask a question, don’t just tell!

**(HEY! HEY!)**

You can listen, you can coach,

Try a whole new approach!

If you’re leading, ask a question, don’t just tell!

**(HEY! HEY!)**

### VERSE 3 — THE BREAKTHROUGH

If you trust your team to lead, shout out STAR!

**(STAR!)**

If you trust your team to lead, shout out STAR!

**(STAR!)**

Give them feedback, help them grow,

Let them lead and watch them go!

If you trust your team to lead, shout out STAR!

**(STAR!)**

**[EVERYONE FREEZES IN A DRAMATIC STAR POSE.]**

## ACT 4 — THE GRAND FINALE

**NARRATOR — PERSON 1:**

And so, our twelve managers completed STAR.

Did they become perfect leaders?

**EVERYONE:**

NO!

**NARRATOR:**

Did they learn to listen, coach, give feedback, and trust their teams?

**EVERYONE:**

YES!

**PERSON 9:**

And did we finally get rid of all those unnecessary meetings?

**[EVERYONE PAUSES AND LOOKS AT EACH OTHER.]**

**PERSON 4 — MEETING ADDICT:**

Actually…

I’ve scheduled a follow-up meeting to discuss that.

**[EVERYONE GROANS.]**

**NARRATOR:**

They may not be perfect managers.

And they DEFINITELY aren’t Broadway stars.

But they’re better leaders than when they started.

And that…

Is what STAR is all about!

**EVERYONE — TOGETHER, LOUDLY:**

WE CAME!

WE LEARNED!

WE LEAD!

WE ARE…

**STAAAAAAAAAR!**

**[EVERYONE THROWS ARMS UP. HOLD FOR THREE SECONDS. BOW TOGETHER.]**

**THE END.**
